Saleae Logic USB Logic Analyzer Review
This is a powerful logic analyzer in a very small anodized aluminum package from Saleae Logic. We absolutely love the simplistic, sleek design with light-weight software and a high-quality finish. Who needs 50+ connections when you're troubleshooting I2C? With USB connectivity, you can analyze up to 8 digital waveforms and timing information on your I2C, SPI, serial, and digital IO lines with ease. Great for those reverse engineering projects as well. Works with signals 5V or lower!
Includes everything you need in a compact carrying case. Test leads are disconnectable from the Logic unit. This makes it easy to remove the expensive portion of Logic from a board when you've got lots of hooks in place.
Unit is fully over-voltage protected, as well as protected against failures from plugging USB 5V into the unit's ground.
Software is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Great Little Analyzer
By Steven A. Bissell
This is one great analyzer! It is very compact and performs extremely well. I have a much larger and more expensive analyzer which works well but is a pain to set up and use. This analyzer is so simple and compact it's actually fun to use. I used the I2C bus analyzer feature to solve a stubborn problem that I was having with one of my prototypes. It made spoting the problem a snap! I have also used the screen capture feature to print the waveforms and it works well too. This is one great product for the price!

Great Logic Analyzer!
By Dennis W.
Probably the most impressive thing about this product is the look and feel of the software. You can see it for yourself -- for free! Just go to the manfacturer's web site (Saleae) and download the same application that is used with the hardware when you buy it. Without the hardware, the software runs in simulation mode. Give it a try. Select the different logic analysis types (CAN, DMX-512, I2C (TWI), I2S/PCM, Manchester, 1-Wire, Async Serial, Simple Parallel, SPI, UNI/O) and play with the different graphical depictions. The guys that wrote this application really knew what they were doing -- data is presented beautifully. I think this logic analyzer has already paid for itself in the time and hassle it has saved me.
Hint: Position the mouse cursor over a graph and use the mouse scroll wheel! It zooms in and out on the data -- broad vs. detailed. Very slick.
About Saleae Tech Support: I called their tech support number with a question. A knowledgeable tech representative answered the phone right away, was courteous, and fully answered my question -- a very pleasant experience.

Love this logic analyzer!
By Jonathan A. Feucht
I work for an engineering company which develops ISP solutions, and I got one of these analyzers to use at work. The analyzer is perfect for my application. It is very compact and takes up very little desk space, and has a visually appealing and intuitive software interface, which runs on Mac, Windows, or Linux. The unit is so easy to set up, you can literally begin analyzing logic within minutes after opening the package. The analyzers are extremely useful for interpreting serial communication protocols, and it looks like those will very shortly be including JTAG and LIN bus analyzer plugins, which are scheduled to come out within the next month. I'm considering purchasing a couple more of these logic analyzers, because they're great to have around.
